QUEZON CITY - Members of the Ministry of Media
and Public Affairs from different parishes of the
Diocese of Pasig attended the Movie and Television Classification Review (MTRCB)’s
2nd Family and Child Summit held yesterday (November 8) at the GT-Toyota Asian
Cultural Center, U.P. Diliman, Quezon City to help promote responsible
viewership in movies and television.
With the theme “Matalinong Panonood
Para sa Pamilya at Lipunan Nina Juan at Juana,” the summit aims to empower
parents and adults in developing the viewing habits of the young audience.
Fr. Lito Jopson said MTRCB Chair
Eugenio “Toto” Villareal has invited a contingent from the Diocese of Pasig to
be led by Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara to grace the event.
Father Jopson said the Pasig
Diocese in response to the invitation, organized the Ministry of Media and
Public Affairs and invited all parish priests, media ministers, and school
directors within the diocese to join the summit.
MTRCB Chair Villareal said the
summit also intends to further strengthen their collaboration with stakeholders
to promote a value-oriented and audience-sensitive media and entertainment
culture.
The gathering, culminating the
MTRCB’s 29th anniversary celebration, was attended by some 300 participants
from the movie industry, academe, parish and lay organizations particularly
members of the different parishes’ Media Ministry as well as parents and
students.
Keynote speakers of the summit
include Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino and Congress Representative Atty.
Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo. There was also a panel discussion with MTRCB Board
Member Gladys Reyes, celebrity couple Paolo and Suzi Abrera, and Alex and Judy
Tinsay.
The MTRCB also launched its new
2015 informercial featuring the Agoncillo family of Ryan and Judy Ann Agoncillo
and directed by Dir. Jose Javier Reyes, DGPI.
Towards the end of the one-day
summit, winners of the MTRCB poster-making contest from different schools in
Metro Manila were announced and awarded with cash prices, plaques and
certificates.
Likewise, directors, embassy
representatives and the Quezon City Film Development Commission were recognized
for showcasing their films on MTRCB’s Children’s Classics at the QC Cinema Film
Festival held recently.
The event was hosted in the morning
by Board Members Bobby Andrews and Jacky Aquino while Board Member Gabby
Concepcion and Ms. Kata Inocencio hosted the afternoon session. (Report by Lou Echano
