Pope Francis declares May 2020 - 21 as "Special Year dedicated to "Year of Laudato Si"

The Diocese of Pasig Ministry on Ecology advocates and promotes the encyclical letter of Pope Francis entitled “Laudato Si” as a guide in the restoration and protection of the integrity of God’s creation, our common home in order to facilitate the realization of the fullness of life among God’s people and in the Diocese as we celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Laudato Si.

"We are living through historic times as the Corona virus pandemic has turned our world upside down. But Laudato Si teach us how to build a better world," analyzed Fr. Edmund Reynaldo, priest-coordinator for the Pasig Diocesan Ecology Ministry, "We’re coming together as a Catholic family to reflect, pray, and prepare for a more just and sustainable tomorrow."

The Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences–Office of Human Development and Climate Change Desk prepared a short booklet of various activities that could be held by groups and families to celebrate Laudato Si Week for each day during the lock down period.

This booklet was shared to priests, religious, communities, and families to become part of the global church movement.

Opened last May 24, 2020, the year-long celebration ends on May 24, 2021 which Pope Francis declared as a Special Year dedicated to the "Year of Laudato Si", inviting us to take part in caring for our common home with special attention and care for our most vulnerable brothers and sisters.

The official prayer for this celebration as follows:

Loving God,
Creator of Heaven, Earth, and all therein contained.
Open our minds and touch our hearts, so that we can be part of Creation, your gift.
Be present to those in need in these difficult times, especially the poorest and most vulnerable. Help us to show creative solidarity as we confront the consequences of the global pandemic.
Make us courageous in embracing the changes required to seek the common good.

Now more than ever, may we all feel interconnected and interdependent?
Enable us to succeed in listening and responding to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.
May their current sufferings become the birth-pangs of a more fraternal and sustainable world.
We pray through Christ our Lord, under the loving gaze of Mary Help of Christians,  Amen.
