TWO MAJOR YOUTH EVENTS TO BE HELD IN MANILA

Two major youth events will be held in Manila - the 5th Asian Youth Day on November 20-27 and Pilgrimage of Trust on February 3-7 next year.

This was announced by by John Carlo Perez, RSW, Asst. Coordinator of Pasig Diocesan Youth Ministry and noted by Fr. Juvi Coronel, PDYM Director.

The Fifth Asian Youth Day (SYD5) will focus on the Word of God and the Eucharist with the Theme "YAsia Fiesta! Young Asians: Come Together, Share the Word, Live the Eucharist".

A significant component of the AYD5 will be the Days in the Diocese where the delegates will stay with host-parishes and families. Pasig will host to about 200 delegates, both locals and foreigners.

Meanwhile, a meeting intended for young people from all over the world called the "Pilgrimage of Trust on earth" will be held in Manila on February 2010.

Begun by Taize's founder, the late Brother Roger, this will be the fifth meeting of its kind in Asia, and the second for the Philippines that hosted the event last 1991.

Dubbed with the theme "inner life and human solidarity, the meeting is aimed to support young people in their search for God and in their desire to commit themselves in the Church and society. Trust, peace, and reconciliation will be central themes of the meeting.

The PDYM would also like to remind the young people about the on-going Pilgrimage of the Youth Cross and Icon of Our Lady in the parishes as part of the awareness campaign for these momentous events. This started last April 2009 and will end on November 2009.
