PASIG CITY - The Diocese of Pasig will join the Holy Father Pope Francis in an hour of Eucharistic Adoration on June 2, 2013, Sunday, 11 PM at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.

This is in line with the celebration of the Year of Faith, which one of the objectives is “to intensify the celebration of faith in the liturgy, especially in the Eucharist, which is the summit towards which the activity of the Church is directed and also the source from which all its power flows” (Porta Fidei, no. 9).

In a letter addressed to the diocesan bishops of the Philippines including Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, informed that Pope Francis will preside at an hour of Eucharistic Adoration in St. Peter’s Basilica, on Sunday, June 2, 2013, 5 PM Rome time and 11 PM Philippine time.  This activity shall be in communion with the bishops and with their local diocesan communities around the world.

“The universal scope of this moment is to a gesture of spiritual sharing,” the Archbishop explained in his letter.

“The event will provide many of the faithful with an opportunity to join with their local bishops and with the Successor of Peter in the prayer of adoration to Jesus alive in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.”

“Though aware of the concrete organizational challenges which may arise, most especially due to the possibility of zones,” Archbishop Rino assured the bishops, “to strive to foster an enthusiasm among your priests, religious communities, and all of the faithful to participate in this initiative and to live during the Year of Faith in accordance with the intention of the Holy Father, a moment of profound communion with Christ, “the one mediator between God and men.” (1 Tim 2:5)

Meanwhile, in a circular to parish priests, rectors and chaplains of parishes, shrines, and chaplaincies, Chancellor Fr. Mar Baranda directed the communities “to send fifty delegates from each parish to join our bishop and the Holy Father in this special event during the Year of Faith."

Bishop Mylo also communicated to Pope Francis this good news of Pasig Diocese’s involvement in communion with the Holy Father together with the other dioceses from around the world.
