PASIG CITY - Pasig Priest-coordinator Fr. Jhun Sanchez, underscored the presence of the Church in the Barangay assemblies last October 12, 2014 to promote the programs and activities of the Ugnayan ng Barangay at Simbahan or UBAS.
Fr. Jhun said that is in pursuant to the memorandum DILF-NCR Director Renato Brion dated September 10, 2014 and Memorancum Circular no. 2014-100 from DILG Sec. Mar Roxas dated August 18, 2014.
During the Assemblies, the barangays are enjoined to undertake various activities such as the delivery of the State of Barangay Address (SOBA), discussion of compliance to DILG Circular no. 2014 - 81 and issues and concerns affecting the barangay, and other activities that would create public awareness on and generate participation in said undertaking.
According to DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, the SOBA should emphasize on the accomplishments of the first semester and the financial report the itemized monthly collections and disbursement, the summary of income and expenditures, and update on the on-going programs and projects of the barangay.
Other programs include disaster preparedness, sold waste management, peace and order situation, particularly on the proliferation of the activities pertaining to illegal drugs in the barangay, monitoring and strict enforcement of the laws against human trafficking at the barangay level
and monitoring and strict enforcement of existing laws and ordinances on stray animals.
